"The wound is the place where the light enters" - Rumi

Receiving a diagnosis that has the potential to endanger your life or that of a loved one generally awakens very intense reactions and emotions. These include fear (or panic!), anger, rage, confusion, sadness, frustration, paralysis, denial, and disappointment, among others. It is unusual to consider that this type of news can actually be an opportunity, rather than a sentence. But I believe from the bottom of my heart that it is so... An opportunity to connect intimately with our deepest being and to listen very carefully.

When the body expresses dis-ease it is a clear message that something needs to change. If we have the courage to take responsibility, we can access the most transformative and perhaps enriching experience of our life... whether we live for a short or for a very very long time.
